Cricut + Vinyl = Happy Me

I am learning to love vinyl!!  So many great color choices.  I made this name plaque for my sister's newly-decorated living room.  Don't you just love the colors she chose?!  The cream and brown are perfect.  I even matched the font to another piece she had in her living room.  (I probably spend way too much time selecting fonts to know off-hand that this font is Papyrus!)  Anyway, I love how it turned out.
By the way, this was my last project before my Cricut mat was officially retired. I am sad to say that it is dead and gone.  I guess when your Cricut mat looks like mine, it's time to break down and get a new one.  Now I have a brand spankin' new one that looks like this!

**However, I did purchase a quilt basting spray that added a lot of much-needed stickiness to the mat, and that probably doubled it's lifespan. **

Stay tuned for tomorrow... I have TWO downloads in store for you!

  11. Is there a site to teach me how to cut out the vinyl on the cricut? I have a new machine and I'm learning the basics....any help would be greatly appreciated :)----email to michellehall79@yahoo.com :)

  12. Just FYI, did you know you can clean those mats off? Just run them under your faucet and scrub them off with dish soap and a scrubber. Everything comes right off. Then, spray the mat with Easy Tack (mine is Krylon)! Let the easy tack dry and voila, brand new mat...for free!

  13. Good tip Rebecca!! I have tried scrubbing it off several times and it has definitely helped. The biggest problem was I had several tears in the side of my mat so it wouldn't cut even and straight any more. I am vowing to take better care of these new mats!!

  14. Which cartridge has the papyrus font? It's always been one of my favorites & my husband just got me a cricut for mother's day! Time to get decorating :)

  15. Hi Juls! I didn't use a cartridge for this one. I actually used software called Sure Cuts A Lot. It's fabulous! You can use all of the fonts and images you have on your own computer and design what you cut on your cricut.
