I've got to admit that it's hard for me to shop for the men in my life! My Dad and the hubs just seem to already have what they need! So Father's Day can get a little bit tricky. If I couldn't fall back on my default gift--the tie--I would be in trouble. But these days, I am learning to get a little more creative with ties!
Last year, I used thrift store ties to make snake ties for my son and nephew. They still play with their snake ties!
I just ripped off the little taggie on the back, and stuffed it full of cotton stuffing. It took a pencil to work the stuffing all of the way to the very end. I didn't even sew a single stitch... just used hot glue to close it up. I added some google eyes and a red felt tongue for the finishing touches.
So I've been searching for other creative tie ideas for this round of Wednesday's Wowzers. So here are just a few other things you can do for Dad this Father's Day using a good, old-fashioned tie!
Let's Go Fly a Kite created this adorable tie bunting!! O man, I wish I had some old ties right about now!!
I saw this adorable mini tie keychain on The Creative Itch. You can find out how to make your own at the LDS.org bulletin board.
Can you believe that Luvin the Mommyhood made this gadget case out of an old tie?! My husband definitely needs one of these because he is always losing his phones, GPS, etc. with all of his traveling!
If you think your husband could pull off this bow tie, check out Make It and Love It! Ashley created this out of a tie! (Already asked my hubs, and he informed me the bow tie is just for smart people!)
This would be perfect for our steak dinner on Father's Day! Miss Crafty Pants created this Father's Day tie napkin.
And how about finish off the day with this tie cookie from Mrs. Home Ec?? It would be so fun for the kids to create their own tie cookies for their Dad!
And yes, another day--another winner! The winner of the Two Savvy Sisters' amazing "It's a Girl/Boy" Banner is:
Congrats, Tasha!! You deserve it! :) Just e-mail me with your shipping address, and I will pass it along to the Two Savvy Sisters.
