This is another Little Man-inspired project!
We all know the classic Old McDonald song. Little Man is definitely loving animals right now. He can say more animal sound than regular words. So I found some of those cute wood figures you can get at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc., and bought a bunch of farm animals. I think I have every farm animal imaginable except for maybe a goat... but I'm okay even without the goat! :)
But then I decided the animals needed a barn. Suddenly I realized this would be perfect visual aids for Old McDonald! I love making crafts that are genuinely useful like this! It might just be the teacher in me coming out again, but nothing satisfies me more than a cute, crafty learning tool! Awesome!
I made the barn out of foam board, covered it with paper and outlined it with ribbon. Little Man loves the pom poms on the doors!
I used gorilla glue to attach everything because I wanted it to be sturdy to he could actually play with everything! I attached each animal to a craft stick, and then put velcro on the bottom front of each stick. The back of the barn has entire strips of velcro so you could put up all of the animals if you wanted to.
Sometimes I just attach the one animal we are singing about. Other times, we add all of the animals--the whole crew!
The animals store perfectly in the denim pocket on the back. And the verdict from the Little Man: He loves it!! He loves carrying around all of the animals and is fascinated with the velcro. We have a whole basket of musical instruments with visual aids of songs we can sing, like these five green and speckled frogs. Now we have one more song we can sing with visual aids! I am a big fan of singing to your kids!
The winner of the Lilstein Styles Germie Stoppers is the lovely Kellie!! Congrats, girl! Just need your shipping address :)
There are only 3 giveaways still open, so enter while you can! Have a happy day!
My kids love this song! I can only imagine how nuts they would go if I had this little baby to go with it! You're a genius!
ReplyDeleteReally cute! And you made this for me, right? No? But my name is on the barn. :) We LOVE to see that song around here!!
ReplyDeleteI love the polka-dot barn (and of course the animals are cute, too)! The fact that it's got a handy storage space in the back is proof that it was created by a mom and not some out of touch toy designer. Great job!
ReplyDeleteTotally cute! I wish I had more time and energy to do that!
